A new generation of datacenter SSDs has been launched by Samsung recently.

These SSDs are open to the small and medium businesses.

Recently, Samsung introduces a new generation of datacenter SSDs.

Samsung 860 DCT specifications

It is said that most of these new models are related to the existing enterprise SSDs.

For example, PM883 is only supplied for OEMs and the largest customers.

This model of drive falls between the typical client/customer drive and the expectation from an enterprise SSD.

Samsung 883 DCT specifications

The hardware platform of this 860 DCT is based on the 860 EVO consumer SSD.

So, it lacks power loss protection.

However, its firmware is adjusted to get consistent sustained performance and has no SLC write caching.

Samsung 983 DCT specifications

According to its features, the 860 DCT is designed for cost-sensitive use.

This model of drive uses 3D TLC NAND.

Moreover, QLC NAND will take over this product segment over the next year or two years.

Samsung 983 ZET specifications

It is based on the PM883 which is released at the beginning of this year.

Different from the 860 DCT model, this drive has power loss protection.

It also has a more typical write endurance rating 0.8 DWPD.

Samsung 983 DCT

This is the new stream NVMe product in this new family.

It is based on the PM983s combination of TLC NAND and the Phoenix controller.

The later one also powers the 970 PRO and 970 EVO consumer SSDs.

But, it has to admit that there are very few systems with NF1 slots which support this drive.

Samsung 983 ZET

The last one is the new 983 ZET.

This model brings Samsungs Z-SSD technology to a broader audience.

It aims to higher write performance and the rate is up to 10 DWPD.

It will be available as a PCIe add-in card.

The 983 ZET will be released on 24 September.

The 860 DCT is undergoing testing.

And the company is going to review the 883 and 983 later this year.
